Do Manners Count Anymore?
There are Child Development Practitioners that are now advocating to not say PLEASE and THANK YOU as it's considered a form of manipulation for the young. How many of the general public have been raised to say please and thank you as a form of having manners. I don't ever recall feeling manipulated by these polite expressions. In fact, I feel a bit snubbed if I do not hear these words uttered when people ask for things or when I've done something for them. I feel like I'm being taken for granted. It's sad enough that thank you notes have become practically relics to the younger generations. Come to think of it, I was recently reminded to say a written thank you by one of the practitioners to a group of adults. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! More on this subject later as we conduct some more research.
